Philips, Eindhoven

Philips Logo In 1891, Frederik Philips founded a light bulb factory in NL-Eindhoven, and from 1917 they began producing electron tubes.

Philips started to produce home radios when this technology was developed to be introduced in the mass market and the company became one of the top radio manufacturers worldwide in the mid-thirties; later some commercial receivers, measuring and workshop equipment, etc. were added.

In the years of the Second World War, Philips had to produce under German occupation, in the post-war years, the company could catch up with the commercial success of the pre-war years in the home electronics business.
