Equipment
The PA 025 VHF/UHF Doppler direction finder was developed by Rohde & Schwarz around 1980 and it was acquired in its original configuration with the ESM2 VHF/UHF receiver for EKF Trp in a number of eleven units in 1982, where they were used as mobile direction finders for signal monitoring.
After 2002, the systems were handed over to the Air Force for further use and remained in use as remote-controlled receivers at mountain sites until 2010.
The system was converted to the VHF/UHF receiver ESM 500 (E-664), the receiver has four IF bandwidths, 99 memory locations and an automatic memory search.
The bearing is displayed on the PP 025 direction finder; the north direction can be calibrated on the direction finder. The AF/DF button is used to switch to direction finding mode; in direction finding mode, the audio signal is superimposed by a whistling tone.

The 6-element VHF U-Adcock antenna AP 225V in the 20 - 180 MHz range and the six-element U-Adcock antenna AP 225U on the same mast for the 180 - 1000 MHz range were used as DF antennas.
