The Swiss battery manufacturer Leclanché SA was foundedin Yverdon-les-Bains in 1909. Until 1997, Leclanché produced exclusively batteries and accumulators and the company was one of the major manufacturers of special batteries for the Swiss Army.

From 2006, Leclanché changed it's business and since then, the company has focussed on producing Li-ion cells for use in IT and medical technology.
